  • What is Direct Primary Care (DPC)?
Direct Primary Care (DPC) is a healthcare model designed to revolutionize how primary care services are delivered and experienced. At its core, DPC is about creating a stronger, more personalized relationship between the patient and their physician. Unlike the traditional insurance-based system, where care is often rushed and fragmented due to the need to manage large patient panels and navigate complex billing processes, DPC operates on a simple and transparent membership model. In a DPC practice, patients pay a flat, periodic fee—typically on a monthly or annual basis—that covers a wide range of primary care services. This fee structure eliminates the need for insurance companies to be involved in routine primary care, thereby removing the administrative burdens that often interfere with patient care in traditional settings. As a result, physicians can focus entirely on their patients without the pressure to meet quotas or perform unnecessary procedures to satisfy insurance requirements.
  • How does DPC differ from traditional primary care?
Unlike traditional primary care, DPC does not rely on insurance billing. This allows for longer patient visits, a more personalized approach, and direct access to your physician. It also eliminates fee-for-service incentives, ensuring that care decisions are based on value rather than volume.
  • Do I need insurance if I join ON Care?
While insurance is not required for an ON Care membership, it is recommended to have insurance for more complex specialty care and catastrophic events. Many patients pair DPC with a high-deductible health plan or a HealthShare plan to cover these needs. If your preferred options are PPO or HMO (two of the most common types of health insurance), PPO will probably work best with an ON Care membership. HMOs typically require you to select a Primary Care Physician in their network that is the only one allowed to refer you to specialists when needed. PPOs on the other hand are more flexible, they typically allow to yo go "out-of-network", and we can refer you to most specialists directly.
  • How accessible is Dr. Nevett?
She will typically offer same-day or next-day appointments, extended hours, and direct communication via phone, email, or text. Our goal is to have a close relationship, and we will work with you to find a time and place that works for you.
  • Why choose DPC over traditional insurance-based care?
DPC restores the patient-physician relationship by removing the barriers created by insurance. It offers personalized, proactive care in a more relaxed and responsive environment, which can lead to better health outcomes and higher patient satisfaction. DPC physicians can focus entirely on their patients without the pressure to meet quotas or perform unnecessary procedures to satisfy insurance requirements. The goal is to foster a deep, ongoing relationship that enhances overall health and well-being. While DPC covers a broad spectrum of primary care needs—estimated to meet 80-90% of a person's healthcare requirements—it is often recommended that patients maintain a high-deductible insurance plan or a Healthshare plan for more complex, specialty care and catastrophic events. This combination can lead to significant savings on healthcare costs, typically around 20-30% on average.
  • Is DPC right for my family?
DPC is suitable for individuals and families seeking a more personal and responsive healthcare experience. It’s particularly beneficial for those who value regular, accessible communication with their doctor and want to take a proactive approach to their health.
  • Is DPC available for all ages?
Yes, DPC is designed to serve patients of all ages, from children to seniors, providing comprehensive care throughout all stages of life. Each DPC practice will have their own policies on this matter. At ON Care, we plan to offer our services to all ages. However, patients over 65 should contact us before enrolling. Since we don't accept Medicare, there are some administrative issues we should go over together before starting a membership. For children under 2 read here.
  • Where is ON Care located?
Our office is located at 2741 Executive Park Dr, Suite 3, Weston, FL. We are also available anywhere you are via telemedicine.
  • I already pay for insurance, why should I pay an additional monthly fee?
By investing in ON Care, you're paying for quality, personalized care that often leads to better health outcomes and higher patient satisfaction. Studies show it can save money by reducing the need for urgent care, emergency department visits, and offering discounts on labs and imaging. You'll enjoy direct, 24/7 communication with your doctor—not office staff—same or next-day appointments, shorter wait times, and more time spent addressing your health concerns. This approach gives you comprehensive, accessible care when you need it most.
  • Can I get a doctor's appointment without being a member?
Yes, but please call us for availability and pricing.
  • Can ON Care see patients of all ages?
If you have a family membership we can take care of everyone in your family. For newborns and infants Dr. Nevett will still be available for questions and common issues. However, if your child is 2 years or younger, we recommend you continue to see an in-network pediatrician to complete the vaccination schedule and for early checkups of your infant.
  • What services are included in my ON Care membership?
Your ON Care membership covers a comprehensive range of primary care services, including preventive care, chronic disease management, urgent care, and wellness visits. When specialists are needed Dr. Nevett will help coordinate and guide you through referrals or any additional type of care. At ON Care, we go beyond traditional medical services by embracing a holistic approach to your and your family’s health, incorporating mental health, exercise, nutrition, and overall well-being into your care. Our goal is to support not just your physical health but your overall quality of life, ensuring that you and your loved ones are cared for with compassion and thorough attention to your unique needs.
  • What happens if I need specialty care or hospitalization?
Dr. Nevett will act as your advocate, coordinating your care with specialists and ensuring you receive the necessary treatment. They will guide you through the healthcare system, providing support and information on quality, cost, and patient experience.
  • How does ON Care handle chronic conditions?
DPC physicians in general manage a smaller patient panel, allowing them to dedicate more time to each patient. This model allows ON Care to more effectively manage chronic conditions through regular monitoring, personalized care plans, and consistent follow-up.
  • How can you help with my mental health?
While Dr. Nevett is not a psychologist or psychiatrist, she can support your mental health in several meaningful ways. If specialized care is needed, we can help you find the right provider and work closely with them to integrate any recommended treatments into your overall health plan. Dr. Nevett aims to be a trusted partner in your journey, offering her experience and knowledge as guidance and tools that address both the mind and body. We recognize that mental and physical health are deeply interconnected, and together, we can explore behavioral strategies, medications, and other approaches to improve your overall well-being.
